Christmas is a funny holiday to some it brings joy, the birth of Christ, family gatherings, and children waiting for Santa to bring them gifts, to others, it’s just another holiday full of failed expectations and sadness. Not everyone celebrates this holiday although it is the biggest holiday of the year after Halloween.
This year New York was full of tourists, but it was brutally cold, which kept me from taking all the pictures I wanted to post. New York at Christmas time is just amazing, it’s a special time of the year. From the decorated restaurants and street displays to the smell of roasted chestnut on the street corners, definitely worth experiencing if you can. This year it will be easier still to enjoy all New York has to offer. The weekend of the 4th,11th, and 18th, 5th Avenue will become a pedestrian zone from 48th to 59th streets, which means you can enjoy the best New York has to offer in complete safety, without the traffic madness.
We all know about Rockefeller center’s Christmas tree and the magical windows of Bergdorf Goodman, and the beautiful dazzling light show at Saks. I have made it a tradition to photograph as many of the beautiful, colorful, and glitzy windows in New York City in the hope that it will bring some joy to the people unable to see them personally. No matter how many times you visit it’s always as amazing.
A few places worth a visit to charge your Christmas spirit into overdrive.
