Cheap Travel to Europe. Monasteries and convents.

While doing some research on inexpensive travel to Europe I came across something exciting that I was unaware of. Did you know you can stay at a monastery in many European countries? The whole concept looks pretty safe, especially for women who may be apprehensive about traveling alone and travelers who want to have a very peaceful and maybe spiritual stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I have looked at these places on the site and found them to be incredibly beautiful.

MonasteryStays.com is the best place to go if you want to find accommodations in Italy. Imagine Venice and Florence. Even Spain.

Monasteries.com you will find places in Belgium and France.

A lot of these monasteries and convents are most likely to be in the thick of the historic district, or some of the most beautiful parts of the country. This means that there is a lot to see and experience—inexpensive local cuisine in town and lots of history to investigate.

There are however some rules that you must abide by, remember you are in a monastery and not a hotel. One is a possible curfew, please make sure you check because hope and prayer will not get you in after curfew, since not all monasteries have curfews make sure you are clear about the restrictions before you go. You don’t have to be religious to book there, all are welcome.

Since I have never experienced this kind of accommodation I would be grateful to anyone who has already done this, to let me know about their experience. I am very interested in trying this out.
