When you travel you expect a little hiccup here and there but a total horror show was unexpected for me.

I travel a lot and have rented cars everywhere, but my last trip to Ft Lauderdale airport was horrifying. A week before I left I contacted Priceline to rent a car, all went well, confirmation, and prepayment for 5 days. lately one must expect a bit of delay, weather, bad management, lack of personnel even canceled flights. from the airlines but my trip started with a 3-hour delay. that was just the beginning of the rest of the day.

I arrived at Ft Lauderdale 3.5 hours late, it was the end of the day, getting late and the rental car company was in the back of the airport. I took two shuttles with the weather getting very menacing, the sky getting very dark and the lighting starting to strike. It’s Florida I knew that it was going to get ugly. When I arrived at Carwiz I was advised that because I was more than an hour late, my car was given away. be aware that I had already paid for 5 days. usually, a car company gives you the next upgrade at no cost. The employee refuse to provide me with a car even though they still had vehicles on the lot. upset I contacted Priceline to advise them that their vendor was refusing to rent me a car. they asked to speak to the agent who declined to talk to them. He was not going to budge but told me he had some cars at a higher price. but because I had contacted Priceline he would not even rent those to me. He made it very clear “You don’t understand,” he said “I am not renting you a car”, I was willing to pay more but he still refused I was desperate and scared in an area not familiar to me, desolate and dark and by this time the rain was coming down, with no means of getting back to the airport, no shuttles he told me to go out and look in the neighborhood for another car rental company and walked out of the office. I had no choice but to leave and walk the streets in the rain, in the dark with all my luggage looking for a rental company

I am a woman traveling alone. Anyone who has rented cars outside of an airport knows in what kind of area these rental companies are situated. I don’t even want to think of what could have happened to me.
